Introduction[]

There are three types of currency in Tiny Village that you will use to purchase items from the village store (dinosaurs, decorations, stores); resources from the Market and land expansions.

The three are; Buildings icon coins Coins or Gold Buildings icon premium Crystals and Buildings icon social Social Currency

Coins[]

The first kind is gold or coins Buildings icon coins. TinyCo states in their game description that you can progress through the game free which would be by only purchasing coin items from the village store. There are five ways to get Coins:

  1. Collect taxes from your decorations. Each has a tax revenue that generates coins and sometimes XP (experience), some might pay more or both or take longer to pay.
  2. Make recipes in stores. Stores use resources to generate both coins and XP, and certain stores such as the Apple Store and the Comfy Cushions store give a lot of profit, although they are very expensive and must be unlocked at high levels.
  3. Receive tips. Other people can give you tips when they visit your village. Each tip is worth 20 coins, so you don't usually make a lot of money by tips.
  4. Complete challeges. Challenges usually generate coins and XP, and occasionally crystals (usually at the end of a series of challenges).
  5. Purchase them. You can buy coins with real money from the app store (watch for sales or promotions).

Crystals[]

The second type of currency is Crystals Buildings icon premium. Crystals are special and are much harder to earn. You can use crystals to purchase rare and limited edition items from the village store (dinosaurs, decorations, stores); to instantly expand your land; to instantly feed a dinosaur or to progress quicker in the game. There are three ways to get Crystals:

  1. Complete challenges. Not all challenges result in a crystal reward but some do.
  2. Collect from crystal decorations or stores. There are only a few and they are only available for sale for a limited time. Keep an eye out though - sometimes they are re-introduced.
  3. Purchase them. Like coins, you can buy crystals with cash money from the app store (watch for sales or promotions). Crystals are rare so use them wisely.

Social Currency[]

The third category of currency is called Social Currency Buildings icon social.

You can obtain social currency by building a Post Office and/or a Hotel Prehistoria and using them to invite friends to play Tiny Village. See the Post Office, Hotel Prehistoria or Friendship Carving pages for further details. You can also gain social currency via Tiny Social and sending invites through the invite tab.

Social Gifting was introduced in Version 1.13 and is another way to earn Social Currency but we do not recommend that you use this as it is has been problematic.

There isn't a lot you can do with social currency, but on 17 May 2012, a few Decorations and a Store (the Coffee Shop) were introduced that can be bought with it (see also Dino Week).

An effective way to earn Social Currency is by navigating to your "Invite" section of the Tiny Social feature, and choosing the "SMS" option. Pressing this button will take you to your text messaging app. Type a single character into the message box and send the text to yourself. Repeat many times. NOTE: For Kindle Fire or tablet users who do not have a texting feature on their device, use the "Email" option instead of "SMS". This works the same way except you can cancel the email without typing anything whatsoever.
